Shuqun’s Strategy to Nurture a Star in Every Shuqunite

Arising from our Mission and 1st Thrust to Nurture a Star in every Shuqunite, STAGE is our way to nurture talents and gifted children to transform them into stars. The ultimate goal and vision is Every Shuqunite A Star – this means every graduate of Shuqun is a gift to the world because of his or her talent or gift which we nurture. Regardless of arguments for nurture or nature, we believe that every child can be developed to have one or more gifts & abilities. This is our basic philosophy to support our mission and vision.
The tip of our STAGE curriculum model is the APEX (Advance Programmes for EXcellence). APEX brings out the potential of every child to the maximum within the 6 year timeframe. To achieve sustainable success, APEX must be supported by our Stretch Curriculum. As the name suggests, the Stretch Curriculum’s emphasis is to provide the necessary exposure for our pupils to discover their potential. Once that potential is discovered or identified by teachers running or coordinating the respective programmes under this curriculum, we will harness it for APEX.
For example, a pupil who is doing well in the Dance CCA will be encouraged to pursue the Arts Stream under the APEX. Likewise a pupil who is very good in Science or Math may be encouraged to go into the Science Stream under APEX.
Finally, nothing can be achieved without a strong foundation or grounding in the classroom. Our BASICS Curriculum brings out the best in every child through basic classroom learning activities. BASICS provides the foundation through which pupils can later be stretched and nurtured to become stars. BASICS is what goes on in the regular classrooms every day.
